Our Wedding Highlights Video

I realized I never shared our highlight wedding video on the blog. It is so fun looking back and with our three year anniversary coming up in little over a month I thought I would share it and add it to the wedding tab

Harrison's First Birthday Party: NASA Theme

Harrison's birthday was January 2nd, where he turned one. Like everyone seems to say I can't believe he is one already. I wouldn't say it feels like yesterday like I had him (read my birth story here), but it certainly doesn't feel like a whole year has gone by. He has grown so much and is such a happy boy.

I went back and forth on what "theme" to have or if I was going to have one at all since he won't really remember. It was truly a last minute decision to have it at my parents house. I thought well I have accumulated quite a bit of space themed items for Harry why don't I have a NASA theme. I ordered a lot of party items from Amazon and picked up the rest from local party stores. The moon cake and NASA cookies really turned out so great adding so much to the party, they were a hit. Not to mention Harry certainly enjoyed his cake, which you can see him covered in in the pictures below.

It was a lot of work and I definitely couldn't have pulled it off without the help of my family and in-laws. Because of all the hard work the party was a huge success and I can proudly add another great party under my belt (see more under the entertaining tab). We look forward to next year's birthday and doing it all over again since we love him all the way to the moon and back, the brightest star in our life!!!

Traveling To The UK - A Look Back In 2007

I thought I would share my first real travel experience something I had always dreamed of doing. I have been so lucky these last ten years with my travels and have had the pleasure of seeing several countries, where I have shared some on my travel tab. I graduated college in May 2007, started working a week later, and in November of the same year I booked my first overseas trip. I booked the trip through Globus, the same company I used for my Greece trip I shared on the blog awhile back, which you can read here

May Road Trip: Grand Canyon

I'm continuing to share the May road trip I took this year with our last major stop, The Grand Canyon. I cannot believe it took me 32 years to finally see this amazing site. We hiked along the southern trail, which is a few miles long and took a bus back to where we originally parked. The colors like the other sites where so incredible that the pictures don't really do it justice. The scale of the Grand Canyon almost is too vast to really comprehend or visually grasp how big it is. I will say I was expecting to see just a huge crack in the ground that was super deep, but as you can see from the pictures that isn't so. There are so many levels to it and it is very wide.

I would love one day to do a hike down into the Grand Canyon and spend a few days camping. I looked into one along time ago through REI, after I did a hike in Yosemite, which I talk about here, but never felt like I was in shape enough for that adventure...maybe one day. I hope you enjoy the visual beauty of the Grand Canyon I tried to capture in my pictures, but if ya'll haven't been it is definitely a must see place.

May Road Trip: Bryce Canyon

In continuation from my last post, I will share my experience and photos from the next big national park we went to Bryce Canyon. I'm glad we took a whole day for this trip. We took our car to the highest peak, Farview Point, and made our way back stopping at all of the top view points, which I think ended up being like 8 different stops, a great guide can be found here. From there we reached the bottom and hiked the Navajo trail to see the famous "Thor's Hammer" rock sculpture. This was my favorite part of the trip because you were fully submersed into the rock crevices and it was so amazing. The colors too were out of this world. I will say though that the hike back up to the top was pretty difficult. I believe you can do a full loop to avoid some of the steeper paths, but we didn't have enough time for that. This definitely was a great and fun place to see and I can't wait to take Harrison there when he gets older. Here are some of the pictures I took.

May Road Trip: Red Canyon

In May of this year I went on a road trip with my sister-n-law and father in his RV, where we were later joined by my brother. My sister-n-law had a convention in Utah, I asked to tag along since I knew they would be hitting up some of the best National Parks on the way back. Our biggest challenge was bringing our little ones along, but they did great and we couldn't be happier with how they handled some of the longer days on the road.

We did a total of three weeks and stopped at most of the national parks in Utah and finished off with the Grand Canyon. I can't wait to go back to some of these sites when Harrison gets older.

A Walk To The Park

Living in Houston has been amazing these last ten years, but of those of you who follow the news know the devastating events that have happened during Hurricane Harvey. We were affect by the storm, roughly five feet in "#thebachelorpadfixerupper" (the hashtag I've been using on Instagram for our current home), but we were actually very lucky because we did evacuate before water entered and have family to stay with in the area. Because this was a "temp" home and a two story most of our things were in storage or on the upper floor so we didn't lose much. So many people were affected by this storm and lost everything and it is truly heartbreaking. Now people are just trying to fix what they have and on top of the physical demands people are now having to cope with the mental challenges of their losses. It has however, been amazing seeing so many people come together and help each other out.
