May Road Trip: Grand Canyon

I'm continuing to share the May road trip I took this year with our last major stop, The Grand Canyon. I cannot believe it took me 32 years to finally see this amazing site. We hiked along the southern trail, which is a few miles long and took a bus back to where we originally parked. The colors like the other sites where so incredible that the pictures don't really do it justice. The scale of the Grand Canyon almost is too vast to really comprehend or visually grasp how big it is. I will say I was expecting to see just a huge crack in the ground that was super deep, but as you can see from the pictures that isn't so. There are so many levels to it and it is very wide.

I would love one day to do a hike down into the Grand Canyon and spend a few days camping. I looked into one along time ago through REI, after I did a hike in Yosemite, which I talk about here, but never felt like I was in shape enough for that adventure...maybe one day. I hope you enjoy the visual beauty of the Grand Canyon I tried to capture in my pictures, but if ya'll haven't been it is definitely a must see place.

May Road Trip: Bryce Canyon

In continuation from my last post, I will share my experience and photos from the next big national park we went to Bryce Canyon. I'm glad we took a whole day for this trip. We took our car to the highest peak, Farview Point, and made our way back stopping at all of the top view points, which I think ended up being like 8 different stops, a great guide can be found here. From there we reached the bottom and hiked the Navajo trail to see the famous "Thor's Hammer" rock sculpture. This was my favorite part of the trip because you were fully submersed into the rock crevices and it was so amazing. The colors too were out of this world. I will say though that the hike back up to the top was pretty difficult. I believe you can do a full loop to avoid some of the steeper paths, but we didn't have enough time for that. This definitely was a great and fun place to see and I can't wait to take Harrison there when he gets older. Here are some of the pictures I took.

May Road Trip: Red Canyon

In May of this year I went on a road trip with my sister-n-law and father in his RV, where we were later joined by my brother. My sister-n-law had a convention in Utah, I asked to tag along since I knew they would be hitting up some of the best National Parks on the way back. Our biggest challenge was bringing our little ones along, but they did great and we couldn't be happier with how they handled some of the longer days on the road.

We did a total of three weeks and stopped at most of the national parks in Utah and finished off with the Grand Canyon. I can't wait to go back to some of these sites when Harrison gets older.

A Walk To The Park

Living in Houston has been amazing these last ten years, but of those of you who follow the news know the devastating events that have happened during Hurricane Harvey. We were affect by the storm, roughly five feet in "#thebachelorpadfixerupper" (the hashtag I've been using on Instagram for our current home), but we were actually very lucky because we did evacuate before water entered and have family to stay with in the area. Because this was a "temp" home and a two story most of our things were in storage or on the upper floor so we didn't lose much. So many people were affected by this storm and lost everything and it is truly heartbreaking. Now people are just trying to fix what they have and on top of the physical demands people are now having to cope with the mental challenges of their losses. It has however, been amazing seeing so many people come together and help each other out.

Baby Harrison's Birth Story

Today I thought I would share Harrison's birth story. I know it is delayed, but taking care of a newborn seems to have taken up a lot of my time lately. :) Before I share the details of his debut, let me back up a bit to my last months of pregnancy.

Lots of Big Updates!!!!

So lots of things to catch y'all up on. Right after I gave birth in the beginning of the year I started to study for a pretty tough eight hour exam that engineers can take, that is available twice a year (April and October), to become a professional engineer. Well I took the exam in April and got my results in the end of May and I passed!!!!!! So yessssss this girl has her PE in Mechanical Engineering Thermal and Fluids!!!!! Well on top of studying and raising a new born we decided to list our house in March, which at that time made it exactly three years we were in our home. So you see why I have been so absent on the blog this year a lot has been going on, but let me continue about the listing and sale of our Prince house.

House Life According to My Iphone

Sorry guys that I have been m.i.a. lately I have a lot to catch y'all up on, like I had a baby and almost a month early. I will post the birth story later and I have a few additional baby post to follow that, but in the mean time I thought I would share some photos of my home life according to my iphone.

Ha and these photos are not an exact representation of what my home looks like day to day, especially with a newborn, well almost two months now. The house is not perfect, but I do work hard on keeping it as tidy and neat as I can since it makes me feel like I have something I can control on a day to day basis. This being my first child I do feel like I am on a learning curve and everyday I am learning something new and things constantly change so he likes to keep me on my toes.  Hope y'all enjoy the rest of the week!
